Internships
“An internship is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Internships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths; and give employers the opportunity to guide and evaluate them.” (NACE Definition, NACEweb.org)
Internships can take many forms – paid, unpaid; part-time, full-time over a season or summer. You can intern with an employer, government agency, or a non-profit organization.
Interns may take a total of 6 internship credits at Snow College, but no more than 3 credits in any one semester. Students pay an additional course fee of $25 per credit to enroll in the Internship course.
Internships are typically pass/fail courses within your major or program of study. Students must work a minimum of 45 hours for each credit. Internships taken for a grade may require extra assignments that you must coordinate with your Faculty Mentor.
